I am a hobbyist addicted to researching genealogy. I am very lucky to have my mother and sister to have done a lot of genealogy before me.

I was not all that interested in genealogy, I figured my mother and sister were the genealogist in the family. All that changed in about 2008. After my father passed away, my mother returned to her research efforts. She was visiting LDS libraries, and by this time, she knew that there was a lot of power in the Internet. She just did not know how to use it. That was when I decided that if she had access to the Internet and a computer, she could enjoy doing research at home. After the equipment was installed, it was time to sit down and give her an introduction into using search engines.

After a few sessions of getting Mom comfortable with her new tools, I found myself hooked and the addiction does not seem to have a cure. I found myself in a situation of wanting to contribute to what my mother and sister had already been doing for years.

Over the years, Mom had filled a closet full of three ring binders, full of family group sheets and various supporting citations. That was when I decided that my contribution would be to digitize her work. I purchased the latest version (at the time) of “Family Tree Maker” software. It took me more than a year to bring home a binder, one at a time, and type in the group sheets when time allowed. And that is how it all started.

Fast forward to today and you will find me in my cluttered “Man Cave” doing something related to genealogy for a least an hour a day.
